Dolce and Gabbana transcend the Metaverse
First Dolce & Gabbana merged the virtual world with the catwalk in Milan last winter. Combining their fashion show with the Metaverse. At the show a virtual catwalk was projected together with a real one. With real-life models emerging from 3D avatars dressed in D&G garments, who then walked the catwalk. The augmented reality show transforms the Brand into a digital fantasy world where designers dress avatars. The Sicilian inspired collection offered a futuristic look into the D&G’s Metaverse presence.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, though, call themselves outsiders in the Metaverse due to their age. However, the show demonstrated the creativity of the Brand could evolve into digital fashion and NFTs. In preparation for the Metaverse, D&G launched their NFT integration in Venice last year.
“The metaverse is for a different generation, but we are curious about it. You have to try and understand what is new.”
Stefano Gabbana told The Guardian.
